The charming village of Baarlo has a very rich history, with no less than four castles / stately homes. One of them, "Scheres Castle", was the residence of the renowned artist and sculptor Shinkichi Tajiri. He created his very first knot in 1967 and went on to sculpt countless variations which can be found around the world. You can admire numerous impressive works of art by this sculptor in Baarlo.
In addition to Tajiri's knots, objects by various other sculptors can be appreciated in the centre of Baarlo too. In ever-changing surroundings, you can enjoy works of art which are displayed prominently and hence add value to the historic centre of the 'castle village' of Baarlo.
