"Het Achterhuis" is a holiday home for max. 10 people. It has 3 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom.
"Het Achterhuis" is a 2014 award winner
In a unique location on the border between the De Maasduinen nature reserve and Germany stands this splendid farmhouse dating from 1912, part of which has been converted into a modern holiday cottage. The original facades have been preserved and two of the rooms are a modern take on the traditional Dutch 'bedstee' or box bed (children love it!). There is certainly no lack of modern comfort here and all the bedrooms have their own bathroom, for example.
While the interior is beautiful, the real star of the show at this location is the stunning natural scenery, and the living room offers a fantastic, open view of the countryside.
Just outside the door is a delightful natural lake which may be suitable for swimming in good weather. The lake is a magnet for all kinds of wildlife and you may be lucky enough to spot kingfishers, various owls, pinemartens, stoats and swallows, and even deer have discovered the lake as the ideal place to drink and rest.
The accommodation is CO2 neutral in terms of energy consumption thanks to 100% use of biomass: energy in the form of wood, wooden pellets and 'green' energy.
