About us

Stichting Promotie Noord-Limburg (SPNL) is a public/private joint venture between the municipal councils and businesses from the leisure and tourism industry in North Limburg. After comprehensive research and in-depth discussions with the parties involved, the Foundation presented its strategic vision and agenda for leisure and tourism in the region in February 2009.

Goals::

• The leisure and tourism industry wants to achieve the position it rightfully deserves within the public and the private sectors based on its economic position.
• North Limburg wants to attract more (recreational) tourists and get them to stay longer and spend more. North Limburg wants to stimulate spending within the local population.
• North Limburg wants to lead the industry when it comes to holidays and short breaks in The Netherlands.

Vision::
SPNL wants to strengthen the leisure and tourism industry in North Limburg and raise its profile using the following three-track policy:

1. improve the leisure and tourism industry by reorganising and adopting new business development strategies,
2. improve cooperation and communication between businesses in the leisure and tourism industry,
3. raise the profiles of the region’s leisure activities and tourist destinations.

Organisational structure:
The organisational structure is a combination of a small compact regional organisation (SPNL) and four local leisure and tourism committees. This structure guarantees involvement from local businesses.

The regional organisation SPNL has its own Board, which includes members from each of the local committees.
